Natural sea salt is hand-sealed into bamboo stalks and subjected to extreme roasting at temperatures ranging from 1,000°C to 1,500°C. But the magic doesn’t stop there—this precise process is repeated a total of nine times.

The monks also believed that the salt possessed healing properties, owing to its high mineral content derived from the bamboo during the firing process.
