Tonka beans are grown in South America, mostly Brazil and Venezuela. They are used in confectionery (as well as savory dishes), finely grated or alternatively whole for flavoring milk and other liquids. Have a strong almond and vanilla flavour, so it is recommended to dose precisely and use sparingly. Often used as a substitute for vanilla.
